I know this will be a surprise for my readers to see this essay in English . If I am not wrong, years ago, I wrote few in French but I could not ignore anymore the requests of the readers in this direction .. I beg your understanding in advance for eventual faults of orthography and grammar ..
Under this heavy atmosphere of war where we are witnessing every day unforgivable crimes of invaders against pure innocence and humanity , we need to strengthen our ties with philosophy, art and literature to keep our values alive ..
My loyal readers would remember that “ love “ as a concept has been covered several times here in my blog on philosophical basis . I was discussing the issue towards the arguments of Schopenhauer , Freud , Bacon and Delacroix .. This time , I would like to open a new perspective through out our practical understanding..
Since the beginning , I was supporting the solid hypothesis about the description of true love : “ If the true love exists it should have been appeared at first sight “ .
Unconditional .. Unpredictable.. Unexpected … Intuitional..
As honest as nature ..
Like described by Zola , Balzac ,Baudelaire.or Simone de Beauvoir..
As a gift from universe ..
Let’s ask the question through a different direction.. Could we say that a friendship or a prior acquaintance of two person could turn in to a true love in time ? ..
After millions seconds of observations and fine tunings in minds , are we sure that we love the person rather than his/her possessions and symbols as a stereotype that we internalize and legitimize in our minds ? ..
I won’t go in to details with counting what could be those possessions and symbols .
I already respect the level of intelligence of my readers ..
Are we brave enough to confess ?
…….
Life would never be the same for me after that cruel summer morning… Walking on the streets of the city that I loved to live … A moonstruck…. A sudden and unexpected invasion of all my cells … It was happening … Which can arrive only once in a life time .. Unexpected, unpredictable and unconditional..
Few words.. Flowers ..
She faded all other colors except hers..
Muted all voices ..
Since then , I thought that I couldn’t imagine breathing in a city other than she is breathing in ..
I thought that there is nothing that I would not dare to do ..
Still living in her orbit in far exile ..
Keeping on chasing her shadow ..
No surrender or compromise to anyone else ..
If not , better to keep on enjoying the “ chosen solitude “ of Bukowski ..
……..
Thanks to the scientific researches , today , we all have a concrete information about the morphology of love .. This magic potion recipe is not considered as a talismanic gift of Greek Gods anymore . We know how our bodies are exposing to a massive attack of hormones asking us to obey under a brutal hypnosis..
The main question is if love at first sight , as pure as nature and as rough as an instinct would and could be wise enough to turn to Russell’s intense companionship where the time between couple is mostly spent in deep sharing , conversation and intellectual satisfaction ?
In other words : “ What would they have in common to turn this thunder lightning in to a lifetime togetherness “ ?
Would they both enjoy waiting hours in the line to enter to a concert hall or a museum or a theatre ?
Would they enjoy watching Godard, Kurosawa or Truffaut ?
Would their hands meet each other while caressing an abandoned dog ?
Would they feel the sorrow of lost lives?
Would they enjoy sharing silence ?
Would they enjoy witnessing sun rise ?
Would they go discover untold stories of lost tribes ?
Would they chase talismanic flavors of far cities ?
Would they feel the unconditional happiness of his/her presence in life ?
Would they dare to welcome all comings years together ?
I don’t think there is any another question in this world that deserves to shed blood, sweat and tears for it.
My answer would be a big and loud ”yes” ; even while being aware of the rareness of this miraculous togetherness it would worth to each second while searching this gem in deep ocean …
I let Bertrand Russell to say last words :
“Those who have never known the deep intimacy and the intense companionship of happy mutual love have missed the best thing that life has to give. “
